How many discount cards do you carry in your wallet and where are they from?
Submitted by danatmedog.
I only carry one discount card in my wallet and it's the most important one of all... the Sephora Beauty Insider card. It's guaranteed to give yield a return with each trip I make to Sephora. :)
After all the recent season and series finales, what are you watching on TV these days?
In an attempt to pass the time while I wait for Lost to come back, I've been watching a lot of stuff on HBO. Until last week, we had the Soprano's to keep us company. At first, I was a bit irritated with the last episode but thinking back on it, it was really genius. Now Big Love and Entourage should keep us entertained the rest of the summer. There's also a new show that I've loving called John from Cincinnati. I love Butchie Yost's character, his dialog is funny even though he's a bit of a scum bag.
When was the last time you did something dangerous?
Submitted by Ross.
I like to drive with really, really loud music though and move around a bit while I'm driving. The most dangerous thing I've done lately is take both my hands off the wheel for a few seconds when I'm in the zone. I shouldn't do it at all, I don't want another repeat of this but I can't help myself.

My elementary school use to hold an event called "The Olympics". Every year, each grade would pick a country and we would learn things about the country and work on projects based on the country's culture until the end of the year. At the end of the year, we would all parade around dressed in clothing to represent the country and complete with the grade above or below us.
I don't remember what country my class was but I remember my sister's class very well. At the time, she was in 1st grade and her class was representing Mexico. My mom picked us up from school and we were both riding in the back seat of the car along with my mother's friend. I'm not sure how this started but I remember that my sister and I started fighting in the back of the car and she had a little Mexican flag in her hand. The next thing I know is that this flag found it's way into my eye.
The fighting stopped and I started screaming that she stabbed me in the eye. My mother raced to the hospital and the end result was an eye patch for a week. Fortunately, she did not do any real damage to my eye and to this day, I have had good vision.
What's the most obsessive-compulsive thing you do in a normal day?
Submitted by Nikki.
Before I go to bed, I do two things to ease my mind. I check the sliding glass door to my deck to make sure it's locked and I check my front door to make sure the lock is locked correctly. Since it's been cold out, I haven't been out on my deck for awhile so I know the door is locked but I still have to make sure that the door is locked every night. Same thing with the front door. I may have gone out, come home and locked the door but I still have check, just in case some psycho decides to try and break in to my ground floor apartment.
Who's the hardest person to shop for on your holiday list?
I absolutely hate shopping for my dad. Not just at Christmas but for any occasion... Father's Day, birthdays, whatever. Maybe it's because I haven't lived at home for a while now but I don't really know a lot about what this man likes anymore.
I really like giving my family gifts and I pride myself on giving good, thoughtful gifts but with my dad, I gave up a very long time ago. He hopped on the DVD bandwagon a while ago so now that's what he gets for every gift... a movie or TV shows on DVD. My dilemma this year is The Sopranos season 6 pt.1 or something else? I have to do some thinking on this one.
What's your favorite heartbreak song?
Submitted by esta86.
One of my recent things is to compose playlists according to my mood. Right now this song is on one of my mood playlists. I think these lyrics sort of fit in the heartbreak category:
You came back to haunt me and I realised
that you were an island and I passed you by
And you were an island to discover
Come on in, I've gotta tell you what a state I'm in.
I've gotta tell you in my loudest tones
that I started looking for a warning sign.
When the truth is
I miss you.
Yeah the truth is
that I miss you so.
What's the last thing you crafted, constructed or created yourself?
Ever since I tried this whipped shea butter for a review on Product Girl, I wanted to try and create my own. I figured it wouldn't be that hard but now I figure that I will leave this task to the professionals and actually buy it instead of trying to make it... it's a choice my kitchen and I can live with.
In my first attempt, I took pure shea butter, jojoba oil and some edible passion fruit oil and tried to make whipped shea butter just like Joanna's. I followed this recipe and took 60% shea butter and 40% jojoba oil and melted it together. Once everything was thoroughly melted, I added in the passion fruit oil to fragrance the shea butter. I used quite a bit more than the recipe suggested but I figured I couldn't go wrong... passion fruit is my favorite fruit and I'm into anything scented with it. After using a hand mixer to whip everything together and a few times of placing the mixture in the freezer for a few minutes at a time, I came up with this.
When I tried this, it smelled good. This was what I was hoping for but I didn't like the consistency I got. The shea butter was light and fluffy but as soon as I put it on my skin, it was like my skin was a hot skillet... this melted immediately. I started thinking about what I did wrong... it must have been because I didn't add the cornstarch. Then I started thinking about everything I would do differently if I decided to make this again. I started making a list of possible scents and ingredients for the next time I tried to make this.
Well... this time was better but not exactly what I was hoping for. The whipped shea butter did not melt on contact, it actually seemed to stay solid for a moment but after a bit of playing with it, it melted away. At least the consistency improved. It was still quite greasy, I added quite a bit more constarch than recommended and I think it helped but I think I need to tweak the recipe a bit more. Luckily, Joanna at Product Body is letting me bounce some ideas off of her and is helping me perfect my recipe. I'm not sure when I'm going to try again but this time I'll be sticking to just shea butter and trying a different scent, maybe something citrus-ey.
I've been a little absent from Vox lately but I saw this over at Colleen's and thought I'd join in. I think I have the best ringtone ever, I made it myself. It's from one of my favorite movies ever. Can anyone guess?
Update: No, no one guessed correctly. It's the siren sound from Kill Bill vol.1 and Kill Bill vol. 2.
What's the oldest digital camera photo you have on your computer? When is it from? Let's see it!
It's very possible that this is the very first digital picture that I ever took. I bought my first (and only) digital camera last in the summer of 2002 and this picture is from that time frame. This is a picture from Seattle's Gasworks Park.
